Story summary: Brian is having a hard time feeling at home in the city after having been stranded two years earlier and being forced to learn to survive in the wilderness. With the permission of his parents and school officials, Brian is dropped of in the Canadian wilderness again. Brian heads in the direction of the home of his Cree friends and enjoys the peace and quiet of the wilderness once again. The adventure begins when a wounded dog finds Brian. As he cares for the dog's wounds, Brian tries to figure out what could have caused them and begins to fear for his friends. The challenges along his journey are nothing compared to the one that awaits him at the end.
My reaction: This story of suspense and adventure elicits a variety of emotion. The author shows how the things we experience can change our outlook on life and the world around us. Brian learned the importance of valuing one's surroundings and being thankful for all we receive.
