Summary: The Alden children spend lots of time on Surprise Island helping their cousin Joe. One day, the stop to rest at a yellow house and everyone starts to wonder why Grandpa never talks about that house. They think there is a mystery behind it. The children talk to Grandpa and learn their is a mystery. They set out to solve it.
My reaction: Mystery stories have long been a draw for children. This is a fun, simple story that will hook children and get them interested in the whole series. A great way for young readers to find value and enjoyment in books.
